A warm Whitby welcome...

Abbey & Esk (previously Mariners) is a tall, gracious house set in a pretty terrace of nineteenth century houses overlooking the River Esk in Whitby. Many sea captains lived here, their lives dominated by whaling and adventuring in the wake of Captain Cook .

We offer our guests two en-suite double rooms and we also have a twin room suitable for children. A large family bathroom is available with Jacuzzi bath.

Views from the house are delightful and breakfast may be taken on the terrace, weather permitting.

About Whitby

Whitby's many attractions are within easy reach of our B & B; families will find beautiful Blue Flag beaches, wonderful country villages and many delightful walks on the cliffs and North Yorkshire moors. Fishing, fossil hunting, cycling and sailing are all available in the area and there is fascinating history to be discovered. Whitby's Abbey is world famous as is its connection with Captain Cook.

Festivals are held regularly and the Folk festival, Regatta, Music Festival and Goth weekends bring lots of colour to the town.We will be delighted to point out 'Heartbeat' locations to our guests. Steam trains pass regularly in front of the terrace and it is possible to take excursions from the town.

Staying with us

Terms are from £50 per room, including full English breakfast. Whitby’s famous Fortune’s kippers are available on request.

Owing to the tall nature of the house, disabled people would find it difficult to stay and we are unable to accept pets. We are non-smoking but guests are welcome to smoke in the garden.
